  1. After High School I had no idea. About anything. I could draw. I cared nothing for technical drawing or faithful reproductions but was only really interested in artists that created Art as their own personal response to the world around them.

I enrolled in a certificate level course where I was not only introduced to printmaking. My printmaking teacher suggested I apply for a BA in Fine Art. I never knew such a thing existed. After the certificate level course I travelled and worked and one day I noticed an advert from the Universities Admission Board that places for various courses were still open for second round offers. So I applied and out of sheer luck I got accepted into the very institution that was recommended to me 2 years earlier. My interviews were chaotic and disorganised I only had drawings that by chance aligned nicely with my preferred institution's style of the time. So I guess I'm indicating I got lucky in getting into the tertiary course I wanted.

I make art because I’m compelled to. The fact I failed to follow through after Art School is neither here nor there; it was just dumb of me. That’s all. There's nobody to blame ut myself.

Why it took me to reach the age of 55 to change gears is anyone's guess.  I feel the need to depict how I see events and places. Whether my interpretation hits the wider mark ‘out there’ is of no real consequence; and these 'things' should not be that eventful so as to paralyse you.
